2008 Fly Tying Classes ran from January 10, thru February 28, 2008

Classes are complete for this year.  Forty-five  persons signed up for the classes and we had a good turnout for most sesssions.  Although the classes are geared to young anglers we have adults fill most of the classes.  Anyone who is interested in learning about fly fishing and is interested in tying their own fly's is welcome to attend.  Young anglers as well as adults (including parents and grandparents) are invited to attend.  All children must be accompanied by an adult during each tying session.

Attendees tied sixteen fly patterns ( two patterns each evening) over the eight weeks.

Members of the Western Massachusetts Fly Fishermen taught the weekly classes and assisted attendees.

All materials were supplied at no cost to the attendees and tools were available for use at each session.  Tiers were all successful and will now use their creations to catch a variety of fish during the coming season.

Manny DaSilva has set the set the series of flys for the 2008 classes and has provided the recipes of materials for each fly.  The links below each weekly listing provide a photo of each fly and the recipies (ingredients) for each fly to be tied.

( Photos of the flys are available by clicking on the links above.)

Our last class for 2008, February 28, 2008, marks our eighth tying session of this series.  Forty four people signed up for lessons this year and we had good turnouts for each class.  Attendees will tie the Black Gnat and Light Cahill during this last class.  Each participant will receive a diploma and a one year membership in the club.  Everyone enjoyed themselves and there were some pretty nice flys tied.
