This was a great event for the entire family.  2009 program highlights were on hiking, walking, biking, fishing, paddling, birding and more. 

Of particular interest to fly fishers: 
>> Fly tying demo, members of the Western Massachusetts Fly Fishermen tied various patterns and answer questions.
>>  Marla Blair will presented a session at 9:50 to 10:30 a.m. on The Hatch, Fly Selection and Making it Easy.  A glimpse inside the world of what fish eat, how to tell when, and what flies to choose.  A great for kids and all levels of skill.

Eight (8) other sessions were conducted between 9:50 and 12:30.  Topics include many activities  the Westfield River Watershed offers such as  Walks, Waterfalls, Bicycling, Connecting Children (of all ages) to Nature, Finding Birds, Kayaking and Recreational Opportunities on City Land.

We had another successful tying demo at Dick's Sporting Goods.  Again a number of shoppers stopped by the tables some of whom were tyers themselves.  There was interest in our organization and in the topics for the Fly Fishing Expo, Monday, March 16, 2009.  There was also a lot of interest in the fly tying classes.  Members who participated in the tying demo were Manny Dasilva, Jack Lyons, George Herrick and Bill Rose.
