The 2008 Massachusetts Outdoor Exposition (THE BIG MOE) was a great success.  Approximately 3500 persons attended the event, a big number considering the threat of rain that day.  I spoke with many very tired participants who enjoyed the wide variety of outdoor experiences offered.  Everyone I spoke with enjoyed themselves.  Western Massachusetts Fly Fishermen who taught fly tying and fly casting skills were Bill Rose (Club President), Manny DaSilva, Harold Norman, Rene Houde, Bobby Jendrysik (fly casting) and George Herrick.  In all approximately 75 women, men, girls and boys learned to tie a Wooly Worm and one person tied the Lead Wing Coachman.

June 7--Family Fishing Day, Montague--The Friends of the Great Falls Discovery Center invite families to participate in a fishing festival with the MassWildlife Angler Education Program. The Festival will be held at the Great Falls Discovery Center at 2 Avenue A in Turners Falls from 10 AM - 2 PM. Designed to introduce curious or beginning anglers of all ages who have an interest in learning about fishing, cast a line, learn about fish in our waters, safety, ethics, and fishing equipment. No equipment is needed, but if you have your own, bring it along!

Members Harold Norman, Jack Lyons and Rene Houde participated in fly tying demos and instruction for interested attendees at the Family Fishing Day sponsored by the Great Falls Discovery Center and the MassWildlife Angler Education Program.  About twenty people took the fly tying lessons.  The program was a big success.
