On this page we'll present a summary of past events and a calendar of upcoming activities. We might use a format similar to this.

Keep an eye open for our 2011 class schedule!!

Our 2010 Fly Tying Classes ended March 4, 2010!!

51 people signed up for the classes.  Average class size between 35 & 40 people.  Classes began with the Wooly Worm and Wooly Bugger two effective flys for trout and panfish.  When the classes ended students had tied 16 different flies.  The 16 flies selected taught many techniques needed to tie a large varity of popular trout and panfish flys.

Past Events

Our Annual Fly Tying Classes concluded on Thursday, February 26, 2009.  This year 35 people registered for the classes.  We had a good turnout for nearly all of the classes even though weather conditions were not so good at times.  Click on the Fly Tying Class -2009 - Photo Page tab to view some of the participants from this years class.

We had a successful day tying at the Kmart store.  A number of shoppers stopped by the tables and  asked questions about our organization and the fly tying classes.  Members who participated in the tying demo were Manny Dasilva, George Herrick, Harold Norman, Bill Rose, Marty Frisbie and Jack Lyons.

We had another successful tying demo at Dick's Sporting Goods.  Again a number of shoppers stopped by the tables some of whom were tyers themselves.  There was interest in our organization and in the topics for the Fly Fishing Expo, Monday, March 16, 2009.  There was also a lot of interest in the fly tying classes.  Members who participated in the tying demo were Manny Dasilva, Jack Lyons, George Herrick, Bill Rose, Jack Lyons and Marty Frisbie.

We will have a tying demo and tie along instruction at this event.  Stop by to learn how to tie a fly.  This is a good family event.

June 5 -- Friends of Great Falls Discovery Center Family Fishing Day, Turners Falls (Montague)-- This family friendly event will be held at the Great Falls Discovery Center from 10:00 - 2:00pm in cooperation with the US Fish & Wildlife Service and the Friends of Great Falls Discovery Center on 2 Avenue A in Turners Falls, just across the bridge from Rte 2. Angler Education Program volunteers will be on hand to help novices cast a line, learn about fish in our waters, safety, ethics, and fishing equipment. If you have fishing equipment, bring it along. Grandparents & Kids Family Fishing Day, Granby -- The Granby Senior Center is hosting this event on Dufresne Pond 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.  MassWildlife Angler Education Instructors will be on hand to assist beginning anglers learn how to fish at Dufresne pond.  If you have fishing equipment, bring it along!  A limited quantity of fishing equipment and bait will be available.  The event is free, but pre-registration is required.  Contact Gloria Viviar at (413) 467-3239.
